Nas and Pusha T Invest in Streaming Platform Based off Blockchain

Audius, a streaming startup based out of San Francisco, plans to announce a slew of investors that include some hip hop heavyweights. According to Rolling Stone, the company will be revealing a round of investors that include musicians from all over that include Katy Perry, Steve Aoki, Jason Derulo, Pusha T and Nas. Audius is a streaming platform in which is run on a blockchain, just like NFT’s. Sony Records executive Martin Bandier is also one of the investors in the company, and he believes songwriters will greatly benefit from this service.

“Blockchain, which I understand to be a transparent and immutable ledger of transactions, should benefit songwriters and other creators in a way beyond what the current system permits,” said Bandier, who credits his son as guiding him through understanding blockchains.

On the artist side of things, Nas provided a quote to Rolling Stone detailing his perspective on the whole deal.

“I believe [blockchains] might be the most important technology to ever hit the music industry,” said the Queensbridge emcee and investor. “Everyone who uploads to Audius can be an owner. You can’t say that about any other platform.”

Salute to Nas and Push for jumping in on a Audius is a rising platform that might continue upwardly, growing from 5 million, to 6 million users within the past year. But it’s not just about the subscribers getting larger, there seems to be a real focus on getting properly compensated, through blockchains and NFT’s, which is referred to as a non-fungible token, which means there is nothing to replace or duplicate it. A lot of rappers have gotten into the latter, selling exclusive music or graphics. Nas has been building his investment portfolio for the longest time, jumping on some of the biggest companies of today at their earliest developments. Hopefully this will pan out greatly for him and Pusha.
