NFL Announces Monster Hip Hop Halftime Show Featuring Snoop and Dre

The upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show is about to get a huge facelift as opposed to recent years. Thursday, The NFL announced the upcoming show will feature Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige. This is neither a drill or a prank; these 5 artists will hit the stage on one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

From the jump, this lineup is full of music royalty.  The West Coast portion perfect for the game’s location in Los Angeles. By now, everybody knows that Dr. Dre, with nearly 40 years in the music business, is a native of Compton, as well as Kendrick Lamar, who has been an elite lyricist for the past decade. Snoop Dogg, as we all know, is from Long Beach, and has been in the game for over 30 years himself. Eminem – a Detroit native discovered by Dre – has a career that spans from the late 90’s and continuing to the present day. Mary J. Blige – the songstress of the lineup – hails from Yonkers with a decades-long career that is continuing today.

This lineup, without question, is one of the greatest Halftime Shows the NFL has ever seen, but it slightly hurt because each of these acts deserve their own show. Even with Kendrick being the youngest of this group, he can still put on a tremendous show with his catalog. Perhaps the clustering of this group was to make sure none of the more explicit songs pop up, but both Snoop and Eminem have enough songs, where if they perform the edited versions, it will not take away from the music.

Overall, this is the most exciting lineup that had been out for the Super Bowl in a long time. This is the 2nd Halftime Show produced by Jay-Z and Roc Nation, who was appointed to take over the halftime festivities in 2019. So far, under the Roc Nation’s direction, fans have enjoyed Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, then witnessed The Weeknd perform at this past year’s Super Bowl. However, this might not only top the past 2 shows, but has the potential to be one of the best of all time. It’s okay to believe the hype on this one, you’ll just have to wait until February 13th to witness it happen.
